SEO TIPS FOR BEGINNERS | 2017 DYNAMIC MARKETING SAN DIEGO

I work with a lot of clients who have either A. been running small businesses for many years and don't know a thing about SEO or B. are just getting started and are just as confused as to where to start.

This video will give you basic SEO tips to get started. This is not meant for more experienced marketers or business owners. I will be posting more videos on SEO, as it is a complex, time consuming process and in this video I will have just barely scratched the surface.

To summarize, you should start by making sure that you are indexing with the search engines. Just stick to the core search engines: Google, Bing, Yahoo. All you need to do to determine this is to google your website and see if you show up in the SERPS (search engine results pages).

Next, make sure that you have Google+ & Google Places. Create the same accounts with both Bing and Yahoo. This will help your website to index when people search for you.

Other tips discussed in the video:

+set up a Pinterest page for your business (this does not apply to all industries. if you have questions as to wether your business belongs on Pinterest, leave a comment below and I will help you).

+Try answering industry relevant questions on sites like Quora.com or Reddit.com - being an expert in your field will drive traffic to your site and increase backlinks.

+Stick to targeting 1-3 relevant keywords per website page.

+Aim for at least 300 words on each page of your website. Google now penalizes for "thin" content.

+Include video on your website. An easy way to start is to have a 30-60-90 second video created that you can put in your about us page. Highlight who you are, what you do, and why you're passionate about your business. The search engines love video and your website will be seen as more credible by having them.

Let me know what you think and any other SEO for beginners tips that have helped you personally :)

Stay tuned for the next Marketing Monday Minisode! I will be posting youtube videos every week!

Thanks,

Michaela
